I took Cooper to the doctor for his nine month check up yesterday and was a little surprised by his size. I know the numbers don't mean much to anyone else and frankly, no one cares if Cooper is bigger or smaller than average, but humor me. He was 28 inches tall, which is about average. 40th percentile, according to my clinic. But his weight is only 16 lbs, 12 ounces (which means he still hasn't doubled his birth weight of 8 lbs 7 oz). Which puts him in the whopping 3rd percentile. It sounds like he should look pretty long and thin then, right? But he really doesn't! I guess he's not as round as most of my babies were (they all averaged about 21 lbs or so by 9 months, they hit 17 lbs at 4 months!), but he honestly doesn't look THAT little to me! So we'll see if he ends up being a petite little boy. And wouldn't you know it that my girl is the one that tops the charts in the 90th percentile. :)

Funny, I just had the same conversasion with our doctor at Ashlyn's 9 month check-up. She is 29 in. long, and 17 lbs. I have to take her back in 3 weeks for a 'weight check'. And just like you, all my other kids were over 20 lbs by now! She eats really well though, so I'm not worried!
Who knows how he'll turn out though...some kids are 12 pounds at birth and don't end up being huge adults. He'll probably catch up eventually. He's cute and healthy and that's all that matters! :)
Hey but he's a cutie, so no big deal. Besides size as a kids doesn't always mean size as an adult. Look at me, I was always the tallest kids and now I am barely pushing 5ft. 4in. I am so glad you have a blog, look out I am always leaving comments!!
He has those round cheeks that makes him look chubby! But, as you know, thin kids are in the family. I think Lacy was 18 or 19 pounds when she hit a year.
