One more week down...

We've had a good weekend, although I always think we'll be able to do more than we really can. We went on a hot date on Friday night. We had a little sushi and then went shopping. Can you guess who picked which part of our date? I had a long shopping list, so we got a few things crossed off of that to make my Saturday a little easier. Dix got some new church pants, and we got a new suit for Hayden. That kid keeps growing! He got his last suit in November and has grown out of it already. Luckily we have four more boys to wear it, so I don't mind the investment! When we got home on Friday night, Porter was making smoothies, so we all enjoyed those and then put kids to bed.

Dix ended up having to go in to work on Saturday, so I had a huge long shopping list and six kids (and a dog). It was raining, so all I wanted to do was stay inside, but alas, my boys needed new shoes, so out we headed. Our first stop was at the library. Cooper was asleep in his carseat, so I left all the kids in the car (that's legal when you have a teenager in there, right?) and ran into the library to return books and get the stuff that was on hold. When I got in there I found out that it was Free Comic Book Day, so I gladly grabbed a handful of comic books for the kids (no really, they were for the kids!), entered their names in a drawing for more free comic books and then trudged back through the rain to the car full of fighting children. Oh joy. So then it was off to the shoe store where we found something that both of the big boys wanted, and Turner found lots of things he wanted...and Regan found dance shoes...but only Hayden and Porter NEEDED shoes, so only Hayden and Porter got shoes. They ran their shoes out to the car while I headed into Fred Meyer for the rest of the shopping fun. We ended up spending WAY too much, but I got nearly everything on my list. Luckily they have a playland for the kids (Turner and Regan) but apparently they only keep them there if their diapers aren't full of toxic waste. So I got to shop with Turner for the end of my trip. And for anyone who cares, I was buying bribes for potty training. It begins tomorrow. Stay posted to find out if it works this time!

The afternoon was pretty peaceful. The rain stopped so the kids were able to play outside. I hemmed five inches up on Dixon's new church pants. Yes, his inseam is 25 inches. Stop laughing. We watched The Golden Compass. As usual, the book was WAY better than the movie, but we watched it again today anyway. Dix took a load of stuff to the DI van, and the kids rode their bikes to the corner store and bought a load of garbage to eat. They love going to a store by themselves! Hayden thinks their burritos are especially good. All I can say is I took a bite and gag me with a spoon! Sorry, I just reverted to my childhood for a second there.

The boys all looked so nice for church today. Hayden, Porter and Landon all wore suits, and Turner wore a tie. I can't believe that Landon is now baptized and that Porter will be a deacon in September! My kids are growing up way too fast! At least I keep having them so I can enjoy having kids around longer! We had a very nice afternoon if you ignore the fist fights. It was beautiful outside today so after naptime we walked over to visit Kurt and Jackie, and visited with some neighbors along the way. Kurt and Hayden ended up in a bit of a waterfight which Turner found absolutely hilarious. Tonight Dix went hometeaching and gave a blessing to a lady that is going through a divorce. The kids are on a terrible sleep schedule, so I finally got them to sleep after nine. I need to work on getting them to bed a little earlier this week so I have some downtime before it's my bedtime.

Well, wish me luck on the potty training!

Oooh! A hot date! Love those! They don't happen very often here. We're happy just walking around Target together without kids! :) Good luck with potty training...I don't envy you! Gillian was easy, but Ethan...I almost lost my mind! It's amazing I'm sane today! :)
