Busy Weekend

The busy weekend started yesterday. For some insane reason, our activities committee (which consists of all women) is in charge of the Mother's Day gifts for church. So yesterday the rest of the activities committee came over and we got the gifts ready. They are flowers--in little pots, dirt and all--that we wrapped with tissue paper and cellophane, then attached a poem with a piece of tulle. Sounds fairly easy, right? Well, everyone showed up just after 11, and we didn't get done until about 2:15 or so. Luckily it was a nice day, so we were outside. Regan played with Sam, across the street, and then with Lacy when Carolyn and her girls showed up. Turner terrorized everyone and made me crazy, and Cooper tried to be happy, but really just needed his mommy to pay some attention to him. Boy was I glad when we were done. Regan had a birthday party at 2, and since I wasn't done yet, Chanda took her there. It was at Rainier Vista park, so I met them over there when we were done so that Turner could play too. Hayden rode his bike over there from school (I had dropped him off with his bike that morning so that he could meet us there), and arrived about the same time as me. I left just after 3 to pick Landon and Porter up from school, and sat in traffic for over 20 minutes. I was totally late picking them up, which stresses me out bad. We finally made it back to the park and played for about half an hour more while we waited for our friends that I was watching that afternoon. When we were ready to go, Hayden took off on his bike and I loaded everyone else up. Lane and Porter fed off of each other and were nuts. The two kids I were watching ended up getting picked up around 8, so that's when Dix and I left for a little quiet time. I got my haircut, we got a bite to eat and then we visited with the Falters for a little while.

This morning we all slept in a little bit. When Coop woke me up around 7:30, I said, "Happy Mothers Day Eve to me, can you please let me sleep in?" We have 9am church, so I knew it was my only chance to sleep in! I ended up sleeping until nearly 9. It felt great! We got everyone dressed and fed and headed downtown to the Wooden Boat Show. It was really fun. We looked at a bunch of wooden boats, climbed aboard a pirate ship and built little wooden boats.

Here we are on the Pirate ship

Porter got very creative with his.

Landon finally enlisted Dixon's help after he hit his fingers a couple of times, bent a few nails and cracked his piece of wood.

Dix has been dreaming of building his own wooden boat for a couple of years now, so he had fun talking to some of the boat builders with Coop in tow in the backpack.
While the big boys were finishing up their boats, the high schol jazz band started playing. Regan started getting a little funky and found her inner soul. She had some MOVES! What a funny girl. She danced like no one was watching! She also went up to each person that had a dog (and there were a lot of them) to ask if she could pet their dog. She must have petted twenty dogs today!

I couldn't capture the "moves" with the camera. Believe me, she had them!

After we had as much fun as we could handle, we went to the farmer's market. The kids each picked out their free apple from the produce stand. They were sorry to see US coming, weren't they? We were going to get a bite to eat, but everyone was tired and it was getting late, so we headed home.

We had just enough time to eat and then leave again. Regan had Savannah's birthday party which was at a gymnastics place. She had been counting down the days and had SO much fun there. She loved jumping from the tramp into the pit of foam cubes. I thought she wore herself out, but here it is 10 pm and she's still awake!

We came home from that party and had some dinner and then Hayden left for dance festival practice. He sure does enjoy that! Porter played ball (!!!) with Nathan from across the street for awhile. It's so great that Porter has a friend. He has such a hard time and had a really hard week.

Off to bed. Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there!
