Late Start

Our school system does late start on every other Wednesday. It makes our morning so relaxing. Hayden catches the bus at 9, and then the other kids leave at about 10:15. So we have plenty of time for breakfast, showers, playing, finishing up homework, etc.

Turner is doing great on the potty training! I started on Monday with him, filling him with as many fluids as his little body could handle. He finally made the connection and figured out how to turn it on and off. He was so proud of himself. Every time he "goes" he looks at me with this adorable triumphant smile. He has had more accidents than my other kids did when they were training, but I attribute that to the fact that I used to be--well, more attentive. So I work really hard with him while the kids are at school, but when they all get home, everyone is going a different direction and it's hard for me to remember to take him potty. Oh well, he'll catch on soon enough.

I got an email from Porter's teacher yesterday that said that Porter's binder is totally disorganized and he's not using his time wisely in school. I am a little frustrated because I help him with his binder, but since we came in in the middle of the school year, I feel a little out of touch. I don't know how much stuff he's supposed to save, and for how long he needs to save it. So we were just putting everything in his binder. I'm always worried about tossing school work because what if it is important? Or what if the teacher hadn't recorded the grade yet? That happened to us a few times in the past, but since I had kept the papers we were able to get the grade recorded. And it's not out of pack-rattedness, either. I am all about throwing things away, I just don't know what needs to be thrown away. Enough rambling. This sounds like an issue I need to bring up the with teacher, huh?

My day today will be filled with baking (we're out of bread AGAIN!), potty training and laundry. Yes, I know, this sounds like a recording. I can't believe how much laundry this family generates. I don't do laundry on Sundays, and sometimes I don't do any on Saturdays, but I usually do three or four loads every day besides the weekend. That's 15 to 20 loads of laundry in a week! I think we need to become nudists to save on our water bill!

Well, off to the laundry room for the next round...

You are such a busy mom! Every Wednesday here is a half day...it's suppose to improve education. I haven't quite figured out how that's working...
