Sunday: Sleep in, church, choir practice, children's choir.
Monday: I got up early, got Hayden to seminary and ran. This is a little tricky, but Landon and Porter are taking turns being in charge. Then I taught 5 piano lessons and didn't get the house cleaned and didn't do any laundry. We had family night at my parents house. We sang a bunch of songs and lit the advent wreath. Well, actually just the candle on the wreath, not the entire wreath. We started a new tradition of game advent. We open a new game each week for four weeks before Christmas. Our new game was Mad Gab. We played it and had a great time.
Tuesday: Slept in because I didn't get the kids in bed until 11. I remembered the kids had Passport testing at school that day, so we crammed (They both aced it!). I cleaned the Hillestads house in the morning, and did not clean or do laundry at my own house. I did bake bread, however. I do it every Tuesday. That afternoon we had to practice violins and piano since we didn't do it in the morning. Then we had an early dinner, Children's choir at 5:30, Cub Scouts and Hula at 6:30, a hula parent's meeting at 7:30 and Hayden's violin at 8:30. Kids were up late again. Can you even imagine why?
Wednesday: Seminary and running. We only ran a mile and walked the rest because I was so exhausted from only getting three hours of sleep. Got home and practiced violin with the kids and got them to sleep. It was an early release day, and the day that Turner doesn't have school. Don't really remember much about this day. In the evening I had a presidency meeting while Hayden and Porter had mutual and my kids were up late again. I was embarrassed about how dirty my bathroom was, you would think I would clean it. Nope, and no laundry either. (Are you seeing a pattern here?)
Thursday: I was supposed to go work out with my friend at her house, but Cooper woke up just before I was going to leave, so I had to call her to cancel. I finally got him to go back to sleep, and I did too, which made us miss practicing again. Turner had violin lessons in the morning, then we went grocery shopping. I actually did a little housework while he was at school and then Turner and Cooper got to go play with their friends while I took Regan and Landon to violin lessons. Porter rode his bike home from school. Right after the lesson we hurried home to pick up the little boys and then off to the pool to watch the end of the swim meet. We got there right as the last event finished. So sad. Hayden won first in each of his four events. We had about a half hour to go home and figure out a musical number (Hayden had a three week window to prepare one and here we were at the last minute!). We practiced for a few minutes and then headed off to the church. Hayden helped the men serve the RS sisters, and then he and I participated in the program by introducing his song (Angels We Have Heard on High) and performing it. True to form, I messed up because I was listening to him! I should never be allowed to accompany my children! Hayden did a great job and got a lot of compliments. We were home late, but all was well at home. Porter was a great babysitter. Kids were up late again, but there was no school on Friday, so no worries.
Friday: I was planning on spending the day getting a Christmas tree, practicing instruments with the children, cleaning the house and putting up decorations, but I ended up running a Christmas errand that literally took me from 10 am until 5 pm. All my children were home. Guess what my house looked like when I got home? Actually, Hayden had a swim meet and was gone for most of the afternoon. My dad took my kids out to lunch and then they watched Toy Story 3. Grandpa totally saved the day. That evening I had a craft night with a bunch of my girlfriends. I was out really late, and found all well when I got home. It was a much needed night out. However, the house was not any cleaner than I left it.
Saturday: Regan's friend was getting baptized this morning, so we went to the church for that at 9. I was asked to conduct the music, and later in the service traded spots and ended up on the piano. We had a couple of hours at home, and then I took the four youngest kids to the church for a children's choir practice. We practiced for an hour and then headed to Tacoma to perform in the Nativity Festival. Landon and Regan did a violin duet that sounded nice. Cooper was a stinker, especially when I was accompanying the choir. We were home for a couple more hours and then we were off to a Christmas party. It was fun, but we were all exhausted. I got the kids to bed as early as possible (about 11!), and then crashed. While we were off doing all these festivities, Hayden helped at an Eagle Scout project, then volunteered for Salvation army, and then co-hosted a party with his friend Brooklyn. Busy day for everyone (except Porter who apparently is like his dad and doesn't like to be running crazy all the time. Go figure.) Oh yes, and to finish our day, Regan began throwing up at about 10 pm. Good times.
Sunday: Thank heavens for 1 pm church. I had Ward Council at 11. I hurried home after, so I would be home with Regan (and Cooper) before Hayden and the other boys had to leave. They have to be there early to prepare the sacrament. I stayed home with Reg and Coop and "home-churched" them today. We did the lessons from sharing time and their regular lesson. It was really fun. I cleaned the kitchen and planned dinner. Then after a blink of an eye the boys were home. So much for relaxing and reading. Oh well, in another decade, perhaps. We had a quick dinner and then we had a quick choir practice before the Stake Festival of Choirs. We really enjoyed it, but left before the 1st Presidency devotional. I felt bad leaving Porter with the little kids yet again. We will watch the devotional as a family this week. We made a yummy treat tonight, read some stories and got the kids to bed early! I think Turner and Regan were both asleep before 10!!! *sigh*
This week looks to be just as hectic. Dix, I miss you. :)
