Peace...at last

Anybody who has been in our home (or met our children, or just imagined our home) knows that peaceful moments are few and far between. It is generally peaceful between midnight and five a.m., but there's no guarantee. Well, tonight I went to the General Relief Society Meeting at the church. It was chaotic when I left. We had been cleaning the garage all day, kids were in and out playing with friends and riding bikes, Cooper was exhausted and screaming his guts out, nobody would come to the table for dinner....you get the idea. Dix still needed to run to the pharmacy and then go to the gym to work out, so I was a little bit worried about the state of my home and family upon my return. Here is what I found:

Two young men, silently reading their books. Porter is reading "Inkspell" by Cornelia Funke and Hayden is reading "Hive" by Mark Walden. They have been neglecting their reading lately and have been spending too much time in front of screens. It was very refreshing to hear no sounds and see these two boys with their noses buried in their books.

And three kids, all snuggled in bed. These three all sleep in the same room. Regan usually falls asleep in our bed (because she talks too much so she has to be separated), and then we move her shortly after she falls asleep. Her bed is in Cooper's room, but he is such a light sleeper that she doesn't sleep in there yet.

I didn't take pictures of my other peaceful people. Dix was in bed resting after a good hard workout, and Cooper was sound asleep in his crib. What a relief and joy to find such peace in my home after such a busy day.

I love the photo of the kids sleeping-looks like my house! Morgan's bed is in with Ashlyn, but she too is too light of a sleeper, so she ends up on the boys floor, moved after falling asleep in our bed (because of talking)! We have more beds in this house than people, yet there is always someone on the floor!
