My boys are becoming Stripling Warriors. In our Stake here in Arizona, the boys have the opportunity to earn a sword and become Stripling Warriors! The path to becoming a stripling warrior is difficult, but not impossible.
- Fulfill all the requirements in the Duty to God program.
- Earn the Eagle Scout award
- Graduate from Seminary
- Be mission bound
- Be temple worthy
These are all things that my boys are working on anyway, so it's great to have a reward at the end...besides the reward of a knowing you have done well. Last night was the Priesthood Preview for Landon and his class, so he got to hear all about it (again...I may nag, er, remind my boys about it often). Then they let the boys pose with a sword.
We also have a Stripling Warrior scout camp each summer and the boys that have just earned their swords that spring are at the camp as helpers, or mentors, or...well, the Stripling Warriors. It's great. My boys really look up to these older boys and I'm glad they have such great examples to look up to!
