The state swim meet was in Mesa, which is about an hour away from where we live. We opted to not go see him swim on Friday, and went instead all day on Saturday.
Last year Hayden went to state in a relay and in the 100 fly, but didn't place high enough to swim the second day, in the finals. This year, however, he swam so well that he made it into finals in the 200 medley relay, 200 IM, 100 Fly and 400 free relay. He did really well in both relays and in the IM he ended up placing 12th overall with a time of 2:13. He did the best, however, in the 100 Fly. He ended up being in the championship heat, which was super cool. They play music while the kids march out and line up behind their block. Then they introduce each of the swimmers. For Hayden, they said something like, "Today is a very special day for this Junior from Liberty High School. Swimming in Lane 1, with a qualifying time of 58 seconds (or something, I'm sure he'll correct me when he reads this later), is Hayden Oliver, who is turning 17 today!" It was really cute and he got lots of cheers. He swam great, and ended up 6th with a time of 57.51. Great day overall.

Doing what he does best: Flying.

Super awesome 20 lane outdoor pool. Love it. Wish it was at our high school!
No, he's not naked. But he may as well be. Look at those girls looking at his hind end.
Looking forward to his last high school swim season next year. His goal? Top of the podium.
