Never a Dull Moment...in the kitchen

As Hayden and I were returning home from errands the other day, I got a frantic phone call from Porter. "Mom! Turner touched the stove and his fingers are all covered in blisters and he's really hurt and you need to COME HOME NOW!" Luckily I was on my way home and only minutes away when I got the call. I arrived home to find Turner screaming in pain and holding onto a jar of freezer jam, and Porter trying to console him. He wouldn't let me see his hand, and when Porter was describing it to me, I thought it might be a third degree burn, so we took him to the doctor. He was a very good patient, and Porter was a great companion for him, trying to help him keep his mind occupied. As it turns out, it was only a second degree burn, so we left the office with a few band aids to put on if the blisters pop. The doctor considered putting band-aids on him at the office, but he was pretty happy with his hand immersed in a peanut butter jar that was filled with cool water. So we went home, but had a little pit stop at DQ. What better what to soothe your hand and your spirit? A Blizzard, of course! He held it with his left hand, which soothed the pain, and he ate it with his right, which, well, soothed the pain. I'm happy to report that after about 4 or 5 hours of cold packs, he felt much improved. He was playing with Legos just after he finished the Blizzard. I've always thought that ice cream was the best medicine!

Burns are the worst! Bet he'll never touch the stove again.

OOHH, that sounds painful. What a brave little guy. You really don't ever have a dull moment.

Oh! I bet you went a little crazy on that drive home to your kiddo. I'm so glad he's going to be okay.
