Today was the primary program in five wards in our stake. Part of my calling is going to all the wards' programs, so I went to three today and had to miss two. The programs were all great, but of course ours was the best because our kids were in it!
Turner was assigned to sit in the seat the Bishop sits in, so when he realized that he didn't get to go sit there until after the sacrament, he was really upset. He doesn't deal well with not knowing the plan before hand. He was kind of crazy, so I let him play church games on my phone for a few minutes to calm him down. After the sacrament (which took forever because the zillions of kids in the choir seats) he was super excited to go sit in the Bishop's seat and I was glad to send him up! A few minutes later, I looked over to try to see Cooper and he was sound asleep, head tipped back and probably snoring. That kid cannot stay awake in church! Luckily they woke him up just as it was his turn to go do his part. His part was, "I can show love to my family by giving them lots of candy." Everyone laughed when he said it. It was definitely the best line of the program.
Then Turner sang a duet with a little girl that is new to the ward. Turner did a fantastic job. That kid has a good voice. I had so many people come up to me to ask if he did voice lessons or what we are going to do with him with that voice. What are we going to do? I guess just let him sing! Maybe I'll put him in the drama camp with Regan next summer. Anyway, he was cute and did a great job. And during every single song, you could hear his voice above all other voices. It didn't hurt that he was sitting in the front and I'm sure the microphone could pick up his voice. But he had the funniest expressions as he sang. He really kept us laughing. He did a good job on his part too, but his singing was what really got everyone.
Regan accompanied the singing with her violin on the last number, Joseph Smith's First Prayer to the tune of Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing. She even made up a harmony part that she did in the last verse. She sounded great. She did a little shifting in it too, but she pulled it off. The kids were all wearing their "Future Missionary" tags. They looked great! Next year will be Regan's final primary program! That is hard to believe! So glad we have our little boys to keep us young!
