High School Symphony

Hayden joined the Sunrise Mountain High School Orchestra this school year.  He had to drive there from his high school every day, and then back for his last class, so it was kind of difficult, but he really wanted to do it.  The orchestra director was Jacob Boyd, who was Hayden's strings teacher in the 4th grade.  He was also Regan's orchestra director at WVYO Cadet Strings the last two years.

He had been wanting to conduct a full symphony, so he convinced many members of the high school band to join in with the orchestra.  They had after school rehearsals for months preparing for the final concert.  We had no idea what to expect.  This is what we saw first.

Turner was sitting next to me.  You should've seen how huge his eyes got.  And, for the record, he wants to start playing the cello after he heard that piece!  :)

Next came this number.

At that point, the orchestra had my kids' full attention.

We then heard an original piece, Face to Face, written by Jacob Boyd.  He had planned to have a slideshow of pictures of the orchestra throughout the year, but he had technical difficulties, so the show went on without it.

So glad he had the experience of playing with this group.  What a great group.  And what a great director.  Hayden will miss Mr. Boyd.
