I was so, so tired this morning. I laid in bed and offered Dix a million dollars if he would see Hayden off to Seminary. And I slept...and slept...and slept...I finally got out of bed at 8 and hurriedly got Landon and Regan up and ready and ran them to school. Then back home to get Port up and ready and Dix ran him to school. We had a fun, relaxing day at home. Cooper finally got the hang of puzzles today. He found one he especially liked and kept dumping it out and putting it together until he was a pro. It was fun to see him enjoying that. Turner worked on his 60 piece Space Ghost puzzle. He said, "Did you know that Grandma is a 60 piece Grandma?" Maybe has to do with her age? :) When he was tired of puzzling, he started writing letters and numbers and kept asking me how to spell words and would write them down. So I did a little experiment. After practicing sounds for a few letters (he doesn't know all the sounds yet), I got out the first "Bob Book," called "Mat." HE GOT IT!!!!! He sounded out the whole book. He was so proud of himself! We'll keep working on it every day as long as he's interested. And to think a little over a month ago he only knew the letter T. CRAZY!
In other Turner news, when he was writing today he said, "My head is as big as a calendar!" Kinda random, I know...
Tonight when I put the kids to bed, Cooper asked for the "birdie" CD. That would be Sound of Music. At the very beginning of the first song, there is the sound of birds chirping, so therefore, that is the birdie CD! Funny boy. Anyway, he laid in bed awake for a while, just listening to the music and laughing at his big sister. I heard singing in there and assumed it was Regan since it was the right words and it was right on pitch. I kept listening and realized that it was Cooper! He didn't sing all of the words, but he sang many of them to "Do Re Mi" or whatever the Do a Deer song is called. It just tickled me hearing him sing like that.
We had our crazy evening tonight. It was Dixon's last night of class, so he wasn't available to shuttle kids. I sent Landon over to Grandma and Grandpa's right after dinner (5:15) so that they could take him to Pack Meeting. Then I took the rest of the kids with me. We dropped Hayden off at violin, then picked Porter up from wrestling and dropped him and Cooper off at home (luckily Port agreed to babysit Coop for the evening, which simplified things for me). We then went to the pool for swim lessons, which ended at 6:30. We hurried and got them dressed and ran back to pick Hayden up from violin, then to the church for pack meeting. We were 15 minutes late, but Landon was on time. Hayden practiced his violin at the church during pack meeting. The kids did some really fun art activities which they're hoping to do more of at Grandma and Grandpa's house tomorrow! (My dad is the Cubmaster.)
When we got home everyone was wound up. Porter and Cooper had made some no bake cookies, so everyone had a few, they wrote letters to Santa, put away laundry and then we did scriptures and got everyone to bed. I sat out in the hall and read Junie B Jones to the three little kids. Turner fell asleep as I was reading. Tired little guy.
Tomorrow is Port's first wrestling match! Totally looking forward to it!
