The Recycled Letterman's Jacket

I went to Timberline High School and graduated in 1989. I lettered in swimming and got a letterman's jacket. I decided that I liked the "boy" style better, so that's what I got. Fast forward 20 years. My son now goes to Timberline High School. My son lettered in Cross-Country, Swimming, and will probably letter in Track. He wanted a letterman's jacket so bad, but since Dix lost his job in the fall, there's no way we could afford one. So I got this crazy idea that I would take all of my patches off my jacket, and give it to Hayden.

He loved the idea! So for his Christmas gift we ordered him all of his patches, including one he designed for the back of the Timberline "T" with a triathlon symbol beneath it. Very cool. The patches all came in last week and he's been anxious to wear the jacket to school. So I told him that his jacket would be ready on Monday. When he got back from his campout on Saturday afternoon he asked me about it. I told him, "Monday." On Sunday morning he asked, I replied, "Monday." On Sunday evening he asked again, and I said, "I told you that it will be ready on Monday, so it will be ready on Monday." I sent him to bed and crossed my fingers that my machine would be man enough to do the job.

It was! It worked fabulously well! Even through the leather sleeves that had a seam right down the middle! Everything went on without any problems and Hayden was thrilled this morning to see that it really happened! He was proud to tell his friends about his "recycled" jacket. And he looked great. Unfortunately, my camera is still confusing to me, so I only got a good picture of the back, so I'm attaching a bad picture of the front for now. Hopefully I can take some more pictures outside one of these days (if it ever stops raining!).

Awesome! Way to recycle, Les! Plus, this way the jacket has more meaning. :-)
