After a long hot summer, the monsoons are such a welcome change. Some years they only bring humidity and dust storms. This year we have received rain. Lots of it. Several torrential downpours.
Tonight's storm started while I was at the church, waiting for Turner to be done with cub scouts. It was raining so hard! Luckily it let up just as it was time for us to leave. As soon as we arrived home, after splashing through every flooded street we could in the van, the kids all got on some swim gear and headed out to the drainage field near our house. The water was almost level with the curbs. The desert road right by our house was completely submerged.
We played at the field for a while; the kids slashing around, Brady chasing a stick.
Bedtime was a bit late tonight, but memories were made.
