Turner's Baptism

It doesn't seem like that long ago that Dixon was baptizing Porter.  But here we are, 8 years later, and now Porter is baptizing his little brother Turner.

Last Sunday while Turner was in his Bishop's interview, the Bishop asked him who he wanted to have baptize him.  Turner thought for a moment, and answered, "Hmmm, I think Porter."  The bishop proceeded to cross Dixon's name off that he had begun to write!  A few minutes later, I went into the chapel to get ready for Sacrament meeting.  I sat with Porter and told him, "The Bishop just asked Turner who he wants to have baptize him, and he chose YOU."  Porter was so surprised and happy, and his eyes instantly teared up.  As soon as Turner came and sat down, Porter pulled him over to him and they were best buddies all through the meeting.

A little background on these two handsome young men:  they are very different yet very similar.  They are both very easily agitated, impatient, spontaneous and energetic.  Porter loves creating things, Turner loves analyzing things.  They have never really had a close relationship until recently.  Porter forged a knife and gave it to Turner for his birthday.  Turner was thrilled.  Porter took him into the backyard and gave him throwing lessons.  I know that sounds bad, but you have to know Porter to get that.  They hung out for pretty much the rest of the day, and I think they both realized how much they have in common!  They kind of broke the barrier.  It's too bad it took so many years, but eternity is a long time!  I am thrilled that they are finding commonalities, and are enjoying each other's company.  I was so grateful today to see what an awesome man my little boy is becoming.  And my other little boys will hopefully follow in his footsteps.

How sweet he chose Porter--I know you weren't sure that would happen!
