Tonight we were doing family scripture study (which after a very busy day and evening was at 9:40 and all our kids were still up!). Everyone got a turn to read, even Cooper. Dix was reading, and Cooper just started repeating his words. I guess he really wanted a turn! So Dix slowed down for him and let him repeat the rest of the verse.
Dix: "And it came to pass"
Coop: "Pass"
Dix: "and they said yea"
Coop: (clapping and smiling) YAY!!!!!
SO CUTE! We all busted up laughing after that one. And then Turner wanted his turn. He still repeats our words, too, but he insists that he read it out of his own set of scriptures. Well, tonight he happened to have a copy of El Libro De Mormon, but for some reason, when he repeated my verses, they were in English. He must have the gift of tongues.
We reward the kids after scriptures with M&Ms. You get one for being there for scriptures, one for reading aloud, and five for good behavior (can you tell what we struggle with?). Last night Turner only got one M&M. Everyone felt sorry for him as he was crying big crocodile tears and kept trying to give him theirs, but I wouldn't let them. I needed him to learn better behavior. Sure enough, tonight he was on his very best behavior, and he was rewarded! I bought the M&Ms for potty training rewards, but I'm afraid we're going to use them up before I have a day free of running around that I can potty train!
In other news, today was Porter's last day of school. He's really struggling this year, and I took the plunge (again) and am going to homeschool him, probably for the next year and a half, until he's through middle school. It's been a really rough year for him with a lot of bullying and kids doing really inappropriate things (think locker rooms), so we opted to pull him out. Hopefully I don't regret this tomorrow!
And last but not least, we got our new camera working and have actually remembered to take pictures. But unfortunately, I'm kind of a dum dum and haven't figured out how to get them from the program they downloaded into onto the blog. Maybe tomorrow!

Good luck homeschooling. I think we need to have some sort of bride during scriptures. I just remembered that as kids we got and Irish Creme Mint after scriptures each night.
It sound to me like you did the right thing pulling Porter out of school. Bullying can damage kids for life. Good luck homeschooling. I'm sure it'll work out great!
I LOVE the M&M idea! Good to hear that we are the only ones that struggle through scripture study some nights! Good luck with the home schooling!
We used Oreos for Nash's potty training. Well, for #2...we had a box that no one else was allowed to eat out of!
I think I might steal your idea of M&Ms for scripture study!
You did great before with homeschooling and I'm sure you'll be great again. Succesful moms know what their kids need and provide for their needs...
