Almost there...

Tomorrow is the first day of school! I have such mixed feelings. I am so going to miss my kids! We've had so much fun this summer playing together. I've especially loved sleeping in. Well, that ends now. Not only does school start tomorrow, but so does early morning seminary at 6 am. We'll have interesting mornings. Hayden leaves at 5:45, Landon and Regan leave at 8:10 and then Porter leaves at 8:45. Crazy. Hayden is starting High School, Porter is starting Middle School and Regan will be in first grade. Landon is in third grade. I wonder how the little boys will react to the quiet house tomorrow? I'll be busy trying to catch up on laundry, dishes, cleaning, etc. That's the one thing I AM excited for!

So tonight was the open house at the elementary school. We rode our bikes over. Their backpacks were really heavy with supplies, so Dix carried Regan's for her.

We got in and met our new principal, who also happens to be a friend of ours, and a member of our Stake Presidency. No pictures, sorry.

We went to Regan's class first. She is so very, very, very (squeal) excited. She got to load her school supplies into her desk. I made her look at it and talk about how a clean desk (or room) makes her feel and told her to make sure her desk stays that clean all year so she'll feel calm and organized. We'll see how that goes.

Her clean desk:

She was very excited to recognize many names on the desks. Our next door neighbor is in her class, as well as a friend from soccer and a boy from church. And of course several from her kindergarten class.

Then we went to Landon's class. He is excited to have his buddy Matt in his class. He also unloaded his supplies, but he didn't get the lecture. Probably because I know he'll be a slob no matter what. He was a little uncomfortable because he a tooth filled this afternoon and his cheek was still quite numb.

Well, early morning seminary is going to come, well, early, so I guess I should retire! First day of school, here we come!

6 a.m. seminary! Wow! And we thought 6:30 was brutal. I still don't know how we did it...

Isn't it fun! I love the start of school, the excitement in the air, the new teachers, the butterflies, the new school supplies...yes, I am a nerd! Let me know how the "getting caught up on laundry and dishes" thing goes. So far that hasn't really happened at my house. You are the best Les!

Poor Landon! He doesn't look quite himself with that half smile. And, it's blowing my mind that Hayden is in seminary already. Wow!
